Has Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, which causes adrenal insufficiency.

Illness may result in a life-threatening adrenal crisis if not treated promptly because of low cortisol and glucose and salt depletion.

In the event of a significant intercurrent illness, such as a fever above 38 degrees Celsius, give an increased dose of oral hydrocortisone ____ mg, (3 or4) times a day.

In the event of diarrhoea/vomiting or reduced level of consciousness, please give an intramuscular injection of hydrocortisone ______mgs (= mls) without delay: (using 100mgs/2ml vial)

Blood glucose should always be monitored when unwell.

In the event of surgery or general anaesthesia, please give hydrocortisone ______mg IV with induction.
